Samarkand in one day

SAMARKAND is one of the oldest cities formed in the 5th century BC. Previously, the city was known as Marokanda and was the capital of Sogdiana. Later, the old part of ancient Samarkand was renamed Afrasiab. In the 14th-15th centuries, Samarkand was the capital of the Timur Empire. The history of Samarkand dates back to the 6th century BC, when the empire was ruled by the Achaemenid dynasty, and in the 4th century, the rule passed into the hands of the great commander Alexander the Great.
